A most practical way to dissect a chart would be to separate the planets that represent basic inner psychological functions from those slower moving ones which represent wider social circumstances. There are five personal planets within a chart, as follows.

There are two other personal points, which reflect a more general life focus for the individual:

Then there are all the wider influences in the chart. These mostly express themselves through aspects to the personal planets and conjunctions to the personal points.
