Transiting planets
From Astrology In Depth
The working principle of transiting planets is a bit intricate, however astrologers find it a rather reliable element in predictive work. In astrology the positions of the planets at the moment of birth carries great significance. Of course, the planets keep to their daily tracks and move forward from this point, however those specific spots in the sky remain symbolically relevant throughout the native's life and they get activated as planets move over, or in crucial angles to these points.
A person which has been born when the Moon was in 21 degrees Capricorn, will usually find that at some age, as Pluto moves into 21 degree Aries he experiences an emotional crisis and an especially tumultuous time. In this case these two points form a square aspect which is considered very energetic but rather troublesome. The influence of the planetary contact doesn't necessarily trigger its full effect as the aspect reaches its full degree, but rather it is timed with consideration with other astrological methods such as planetary progressions, return charts etc. Astrologers differ in the range they allow for the aspects (this range in called orb), however keeping it loosly to 10 degree on either side is workable. Also the built-in sensitivities in the natal chart should be assessed to get an idea of how the person will react and interact with that influence.
An astrology chart can be drawn to include the superposition of the transiting planets upon the natal chart.
You may wish to read upon some aspect you are researching. Please see the Main Page and click on one of the planets that partakes in that aspect, then see the table of aspects toward the end of the planet's article. If it is missing (marked in red), consider writing a few words and we'll get around to fill up that aspect's article. Please note that the aspect articles in this website are supposed to include both information about its influence as an aspect in the natal chart and its influence by transit (whichever planet is doing the transiting). These are to be separated into different headers (eg. "In the personality" versus "In transit").
