Mercury in Pisces is a more hushed, secretive, mysterious and somewhat confusing location for Mercury.
This Mercury can be quite tendentious in its thinking and communication, and may sometimes be misleading. In a more aggressive chart it can be quite deceptive. It does take well to a prominent Saturn
in the personality, which may alleviate this effect by objectifying it. Pluto
can also do much to strengthen this Mercury, making it particularly deep.
Mercury takes the sensory input we receive every second of every day and relays that to the rest of the chart for interpretation. With Mercury in Pisces, everything is colored with a tinge of romanticism. That piece of trash floating in the wind? To someone with this Mercury position, it is a work of art- a beautiful mote wafting through the air like magic. People with this position rarely pay attention to the mundane here-and-now and instead prefer to live in a dream world, whether that be reveling in God's creation or looking for fairies around every corner. Needless to say the imagination is on overdrive with this placement. That can lead to transcendence or just plain deceit.
People with this placement often have trouble with conversation, as their mind is constantly wandering, lost i the Piscean fog. They usually have to take a few seconds to collect them selves before they reply, visibly organizing their thoughts into speakable form. If you fid your self talking to a person that seems to have an abnormally large amount of long pauses and drawn out "Ummmmmmmmmmm"s, chances are they have Mercury in Pisces.
People with their Mercury in Pisces often have certain ideas or images the origin of which is a mystery to the person. Rather than the more practical placements, like Mercury in Virgo or Capricorn, who carefully look at each item of information coming in and make decisions or impressions based on the facts, this Mercury just lets it all flow in through a sort of metal osmosis. An example: Mercury in Capricorn reads this sentence: "Justin was thirteen years old, had unruly brown hair and was wearing a purple shirt and faded, scuffed up blue jeans." and this of examples of unruly hair, purple shirts, etc. that they've seen before and slowly through the stated facts construct an image of what Justin looks like. If someone asks them what color shirt Justin is wearing later, Mercury in Capricorn would say purple, because the book told them so. A person with their Mercury in Pisces however, will read the same sentence and, when asked to describe Justin later will say that he was wearig a purple shirt and had dark messy hair, but will have no idea why they think this. the facts just sneak into their brain unnoticed and so seem to come about spontaneously and intuitively. This can manifest itself in many ways and Mercury in Pisces will always find themselves thinking something and not knowing where the thought came from.
This placement can be especially musically and artistically expressive.
