Aries is the most hot-blooded, assertive and bold sign in the zodiac. The ruler of this sign is the planet Mars. Its natural house is the first house.

Aries is a very confident, enterprising sign. It is courageous, quite bold and somewhat argumentative. Aries can also be irritable, quick tempered, but usually does not hold a grudge. It can be restless, sometimes intolerant and contentious. It can be quite vocal when it doesn't like something. It can turn aggressive when strongly annoyed, although Venus influences can mitigate this. Although it often does not consider itself so energetic, it tends to be very active and on-the-go, and can be quite hard-working.

This is an assertive sign, and it can be very stubborn in its way of looking at things. Aries is mostly direct, and hates keeping things inside, but sometimes may resign to this out of necessity (which can make him feel ill). It seeks to bring things out into the light, so that they can be dealt with properly and effectively.

Aries natives often have a kind of raw authenticity to them. They tend to be rather impulsive and adventuresome, a doer more than a talker. This sign is mostly sharp and to the point. It has a great intensity to it, and its natives tend to be completely invested in whatever they do and feel. On the other hand, they may be too intensive and dramatic at times, however A strong Taurus influence can help to soothe this. Aries people are usually very sensitive to the way they are treated by others and most will react aggressively when they feel disrespected or put down. Aries tends to be all-out and strongly marshalled when putting out effort, however it may prefer to use a more brute force as it sometimes lack the patience to deal with small, subtle details. A strong Saturn or Capricorn influence may alleviate this issue. Similarly, there is usually a tendency to leave loose ends, which can be mitigated by the aforementioned influences.

Aries natives tend to be more zestful and humorous, and have a certain childishness to their character, although Saturn may take away from this. There's often an affinity for games, and they keep a certain youthfulness as they grow up which can give them great charm.

Aries tends to be rather simpleminded, but may sometimes look at things a bit too simplistically. It can be quick to jump to conclusions, which may often get the better of him. It tends to be rather generous and big-hearted, and can become very annoyed and stirred-up with what it considers as injustice (which may be rather subjective). It tends to have a soft spot for the underdog, but in a harsh chart it can nevertheless act aggressively with it when irritated. Nevertheless, there is normally a strongly compassionate side to this sign. There is often a hope to affect a better temperamental direction in face of strong, irritative impulses.

Although often considered strong, Aries people are actually quite sensitive at their core. This sign has a great difficulty in dealing with the loss of its kin and friends. It may especially take a beating when several of these happen together, which in a weak chart may end up in a nervous breakdown.

Aries tends to dislike whiny people.

Unlike Libra, Aries is more focussed and decisive. It is less politically correct, less sensitized to its surroundings. It is more raw and powerful, and can be annoyed with Libra's wishy-washy manner. Aries does not like to curb his style to suit another, and this may prove a little too much for a strong Libra individual. On Aries' part, this relationship is usually considered good.

Aries can be quite exciting for Cancer. Although both can have difficult moods which often make for a fiery relationship, Aries tends to forget rather quickly and Cancer soon changes its mood as well. Both have a degree of underlying narcissism, and interestingly they are able to relate on this basis. The problem is that both are egotistically sensitive and may well have communicational misunderstandings. This relationship often works well as both signs are robust enough for it, although in some associations there have been serious problems between these signs on the basis of values.

Both signs can be very headstrong, which can make this relationship difficult to get moving. Taurus often attracts to Aries as of its more exciting and energizing qualities, but both may find something annoying in this association.

These signs have quite a differing idea of justice, and of what is right and proper. Taurus is more coldly calculated and specific, Aries has more of a compassionate side to it. Where Taurus is more passive in this respect, Aries quickly become quarrelsome and inflamed when he perceives injustice, which in turn can bring out the more difficult, rebellious and neurotic side of Taurus. Such conflicts may in some cases escalate and can potentially become dangerous if the association is too close and there is no possibility of (at least temporary) disengagement.

As Aries does not keep account and usually gladly gives a helping hand, it tends to assume the same of other people, but often gets rebuffed by Taurus, which tends to feel demands are too high and rewards too low. Aries does not like this kind of behavior, which it usually feels holds it back. Taurus' relative laziness often comes up as an issue between those signs as well.

Although Aries tend to go nuts for Aquarius, they tend to have clashes over Aquarius unbridled and contrarian nature, and Aquarius can be a bit uncomfortable with this (Aries usually quickly forgets the argument). Aries likes things to go his way, and especially has difficulty understanding Aquarius' unconventional behaviors and thinking. Both can be headstrong, which can drive them mad over the long run. They can make good friends, as both tend to be rather big-hearted and playful. Both have a good, mostly compatible sense of humor. Both can be a bit childish, but in a way that can be compatible.
